Ripping your DVD collection might get pretty challenging

According to the news at eWeek ripping your (future purchased) DVD collection to disk might get quite a bit more difficult as Macrovision has devised a new anti-ripping technology. Of course, you can still rip your existing collection for personal use today using MacTheRipper or another tool of your choosing.

When this comes to market, it will definitely be interesting to see just how quickly people figure out how to hack it, as well as what systems have difficulty even playing the newly protected discs.

Geesh, I get sick of people making it hard for me to archive what I’ve purchased. I hope ‘its’ quick.

    I hear you!

The good thing is that this is not live yet and will probably take a bit to show up in new DVDs. For the time being we can still manage our collections and probably add more stuff that you purchase… though soon we might just run into some interesting issues.
