It seems the mini’s reach as a home entertainment appliance has spread to all corners of the world, doing a little surfing this morning SlimDevices, an external 160GB hard drive and a 42” Plasma. “When I started out I was looking for high-quality output rather than for economy,” he says. The Mac-based home-theatre system he [...]

Reading Jonathans ‘Headless Music Operation‘ post a few weeks ago, got me thinking about other possible solutions for selecting iTunes playlists or individual songs, without having to turn on the display. Last night I ran across this little app from Valencio.com, and you’ll need iTunes version 4.7.1. If you decide to give it a shot, [...]

This offer from Amazon, on the up-coming Tiger Mac OS release seems mighty appealing if you ask me. Tiger is slated to retail for $129.99, but if you Revenge of the Sith‘, and maybe even buy some popcorn. Edit: The rebate was removed by Amazon, no reason given. Second Edit: And its back again…. Long before the iMac was standard 512MB memory on board. And since I’m aiming high here, I saved the best two for last, while this next upgrade would likely push a revision up to almost 2006 or later, it would be well worth it. I’d like to see a Blu-ray drive in the next mini; [...]

I just ran across this little item from Axentra, the Net-Box. Which is described as an “all-in-one digital home server appliance”, the literature actually mentions compatibility with the Mac mini (and Mac’s in general), obviously Axentra is aware of the potential for mini peripherals here. Let’s see what’s under the hood. Integrated gateway, router, firewall [...]
